Charles B is the latest artist to join the “Gala in Sofia” 2026. On August 23 at 8:00 PM, he will transform the “St. Alexander Nevsky” Square into a large open-air club stage.
Born in Paris in 1997, the French DJ, producer and internet phenomenon, whose real name is Charles Berbino, is among the brightest names of the new generation in the European electronic scene. In just a few years, he managed to become a global sensation thanks to his unique concept “Classical Meets Techno”, which combines masterpieces of classical music with modern electronic rhythms.
Charles B gained international popularity with his impressive interpretations of works by Vivaldi, Mozart and Beethoven, turning them into large-scale electronic spectacles that reach millions of listeners around the world. Thanks to him, the works of the great classics also found a place on TikTok. His videos and music projects generate millions of views on social networks (over 500 million in the last 12 months alone), and his profiles are followed by hundreds of thousands of fans.
What distinguishes Charles B from the many successful DJs on the world stage is his desire to create a bridge between classical and contemporary music. His performances prove that the works of great composers can reach new generations of listeners through the language of modern electronic culture. For his unique approach, the young artist is praised by iconic figures in the industry such as David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Tiesto and others.
The artist has participated in some of the most prestigious electronic music festivals in the world, including Tomorrowland, and has presented his projects in iconic locations around the globe — such as the Great Wall of China or the desert in Morocco. Earlier this year, he also performed a completely sold-out show in front of 100,000 people in India. His unconventional parties have been held in over 50 countries and now it is Bulgaria's turn to enter this list with its unique trademark.
His appearance in Bulgaria is yet another proof of the international scale of the "Gala in Sofia", which over the years has established itself as one of the most significant cultural events with an international resonance.
The invitation to another world-famous European artist is part of Sonya Yoncheva's consistent mission to unite genres, generations and audiences, to make classical music more accessible to young people and to invest in the future of contemporary art. It is precisely because of her contribution to the development of European culture, international cultural exchange and the popularization of classical music among new generations that the Bulgarian soprano was awarded the European Cultural Prize for 2026.
On August 23, 25 and 27, “Gala in Sofia” will transform the spiritual heart of the Bulgarian capital – St. Alexander Nevsky Square – into a stage for the best of European musical art. Opera, classical music, electronic music, techno, pop and crossover projects will meet in one large-scale open-air event – a cultural format without analogues in Bulgaria, which shows how tradition and innovation can coexist and inspire new audiences.
Before “Tosca” with Jonas Kaufman and Sonya Yoncheva (August 25) and “Blue Night” with David Garrett and Sonya Yoncheva (August 27), the DJ party on August 23 will be called “Unlimited”. This is exactly the spirit of the young generation that Sonya Yoncheva wants to attract to classical music. The Sofia Opera Orchestra will also accompany this special evening.
With his characteristic style, Charles B breathes new life into immortal classical works and presents them in a way that excites millions of young people around the world. His participation promises a spectacular show, in which the energy of electronic music will meet the genius of great composers, and the center of Sofia will become the host of one of the most unusual musical experiences of the summer.
