“Botev’s Love” is a dramatic-poetic production based on texts by Hristo Botev and Zahari Stoyanov, revealing a lesser-known side of the great poet and revolutionary - his deeply human and personal story. At the heart of the performance is the relationship between Botev and his wife Veneta - a love born during the turbulent years of emigration and marked by the ideal of freedom.
The production follows the lives of the Bulgarian revolutionaries in Bucharest, their dreams of liberation, and the dramatic choice between personal happiness and duty to the homeland. Poetry meets documentary prose to create an emotional portrait of Botev - a man for whom love and freedom are inseparable. One gives meaning to life, while the other demands the ultimate sacrifice.
“Botev’s Love” is a journey into personal and national memory, reminding us that ideals are born from the heart and that true love endures beyond time and death.
