Dear children,
A bit of scrap iron, a blacksmith’s forge, and a few children—that is all it takes to craft a robot. They fashioned it in their own image, and now it can march and wave its arms about. But they forgot to teach it the most important thing of all; so, the robot sets off into the world, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. On his adventures, the Iron Boy encounters terrifying scarecrows, fierce and cruel robots, howling winds and whirlwinds, and the all-powerful, thousand-toothed Rust. Through these encounters, he learns what makes his knee tickle and what a tear tastes like. And, just as in a fairy tale, a touch of magic occurs—transforming a steel spring into a real heart that whispers: "I am here! I am here!"
